As the month of June approaches, we look forward to recognizing Canada’s $15 billion staffing industry through what is known as Staffing for Canada Week, observed from June 5th-11th. Canadians first began celebrating this as “National Temporaries Week,” when it was first introduced in Edmonton, Alberta in 1980.
This annual event, endorsed by Canadian leaders across the country, recognizes the contributions of individuals, associates and candidates employed by staffing firms and celebrates the industry’s ever-important role in the economy.
Staffing for Canada Week is observed by the Association of Canadian Search, Employment & Staffing Services (ACSESS) and its 1,500-member offices, they recognize the industry’s employees and the job seekers they place each year. ACSESS is a national organization whose mission is to advance best practices and ethical standards for the staffing industry through advocacy, government relations, professional development, resources and research.
Working to positively influence and protect the regulatory and business environment, ACSESS actively promotes credibility and visibility of the industry to the business community, government, and the general public. They diligently provide members with strategic support services, programs and tools to assist them in achieving goals and objectives.
“Recruitment and Talent Acquisition has always been a critical function of a business, especially these days in the current candidate-driven market. Often it does not get the recognition it deserves as one of the most important elements of a business.”
BJ Blumenthal, Daxtra Canada Country Manager
Since early 2020 the industry and country as a whole were hit hard by the pandemic. Challenges have been met head-on with ACSESS members including recruiting, executive search and staffing service firms, placing more than 600,000 candidates.
Canada Week gives staffing companies an occasion to celebrate the value the staffing industry has within Canada's economy and its communities. It also provides the opportunity to thank the personnel professionals and consultants who help thousands of Canadians find new job opportunities every year.
To mark Staffing for Canada Week, ACSESS invites its members’ candidates and field workers to enter an ‘Exceptional Experience Contest’ and share positive experiences via writing or video.
