Giving back this holiday season

The holiday season is upon us once more! Usually this means the gatherings of family, friends and colleagues celebrating together with holiday parties many times in the spirit of giving. This year we’re faced with the unique challenge of celebrating the holiday season during a pandemic. So, most of the company parties have been cancelled or postponed until better times. We’re all adapting to new and different situations. But we don’t want to let the spirit of giving diminish.

Our US division decided a fresh way to bring on the giving spirit of the season would be to give back to our community.

Like all sectors across the board, the staffing and recruiting industry has been greatly impacted. Many jobs have been lost. But many jobs are being found, thanks to the hard-working staffing professionals and recruiters along with the technology that helps drive their businesses.

Connecting people to jobs and jobs to people is what we’re all about at DaXtra so we wanted to show our support to organizations that help people get jobs or advance their careers. We carefully chose three charities that not only align with our core values but have a deeper meaning to us.

Because our Berkeley office is practically right across the Golden Gate Bridge from San Francisco, we chose The Job Forum. Heading up our Berkeley office, Sales Director Terry Bustamante is a panelist for this wonderful organization which is sponsored by the San Francisco Chamber of Commerce. The Job Forum is a volunteer-run, free community service where local managers and career experts have helped thousands of job seekers become more confident and successful in their hunt for their next great job in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Helping veterans receive comprehensive personal support and financial assistance to achieve success in their post-military careers, we decided the Sentinels of Freedom Scholarship Foundation was a terrific cause to support. In the past our Senior Enterprise Account Manager, Angela Cambra worked closely with this nonprofit organization that helps severely wounded post-9/11 veterans complete their higher education in preparation for a bright career.

And finally, an expansive organization covering many facets of education, income and health, the United Way of America (now United Way Worldwide), is a nonprofit organization that works with almost 1,200 offices throughout the country in a coalition of charitable organizations to pool efforts in fundraising and support. United Way's focus is to identify and resolve pressing community issues and to make measurable changes in communities through partnerships with schools, government agencies, businesses, organized labor, financial institutions, community development corporations, voluntary and neighborhood associations and others.

We’ve been very fortunate at DaXtra and are grateful to be able to pay it forward just a little and help in the efforts of getting people back to work. This season, let’s all dig a little deeper if we can, to help those who need it right now.
