What’s all this buzz about AI? Our takeaway from HR Tech 2017

It was thick in the air, the trending buzz continued in Vegas at HR Tech, as it had much of the year… AI, the shape of things to come…

It’s been a little over a week since HR Tech 2017 wrapped up in Las Vegas. The HR Technology Conference and Expo is the world’s largest expo of HR technology products and services. Offering the unique opportunity to appraise and interact with the latest solutions from leading vendors, HR Tech has been a “must attend,” expo for DaXtra. It’s a great place to compare and contrast the latest solutions from leading vendors in every category, as well as start-ups.

We’ve had a little time to reflect on the resounding buzz from the conference. A range of topics were covered, however, the buzz continued to be about the way AI will shape recruiting.

More than 15 years ago, back at the University of Edinburgh, two doctorates developed a technology — an artificial intelligence, capable of reading and “understanding” unstructured text, similar to the way the human mind does. This DARPA-award-winning technology would soon become one of the World’s most powerful CV/resume parsing tools, as these two gentlemen, along with a seasoned IT Recruitment Manager, teamed up to start what is today known as DaXtra Technologies.

Timing was on point and the need was there. Demand to read and upload resumes into a database, faster and more efficiently, was high. An artificially intelligent technology that could capture the true meaning of words based on the context and not only keywords, formed the foundation for Daxtra’s products as we know them today.

DaXtra was a game changer. It took the menial tasks which usually fell upon the recruiter and automated them, freeing them up to do what they do best: Recruit people, with a human touch. Today, recruiters use this automation as a tool to take care of the busy work while they’re able to concentrate on one-on-one interactions with qualified candidates.

Understandably, AI has finally come to light as a realistic and useful tool to not only aid in duties of recruiters, but to help them execute their tasks with more accuracy and speed. Why is this important? The bottom line, of course. Let’s not mince words, we all want a tool that allows us to complete our jobs more efficiently. Here it is.

All of this AI buzz for us at DaXtra is almost “old hat,” as we’ve been at the forefront of this technology for well over 15 years. While still developing and improving upon this software, DaXtra is a well-seasoned machine in intelligent, highly accurate, multilingual CV/resume parsing, searching, matching and aggregation solutions.
